Did you know that email marketing generates a 70{6dae46da24e999607385e9be7950c1d4589f4b4e796c45b1daf9b427a72e91a2} higher ROI than any other direct mail does? Startling figures and it saves the environment! If you aren’t using email as a internet marketing technique, then its about time you started thinking about it.

Whether you’re already using email marketing or you haven’t started yet, here’s 5 tips to help you out…

  1. Headline
Make the subject line the most important line in the whole email. People will make a decision as to whether to open it based on that line. Keep it short and avoid using blatantly cheesy sales techniques like capital letters or exclamation marks
  2. When You’ve Got Them to Click
Make the email easy on the eye and put the important stuff at the top – you’ve got to make it worth their while now they’ve bothered to click in.
Always go by the rule of self – would you be pleased to see this email? Would it be something you would respond to? We all know the ones we wouldn’t so don’t let it fall into the spam folder.
  3. What Do You Want Them to Do
So now they’ve opened the email and you haven’t frightened them of with boring content or flashy sales talk, what do you want them to do?
Make it very clear for them – a link to your website perhaps or a request for more information. Ensure that the ‘what’ and also the ‘how’ they do it are really prominent.
  4. I Never Asked For That
How annoying is it when you get unsolicited mail from people you don’t know and for products and services you don’t want?
Get your database right from the start, make sure that people have agreed to receive your emails and provide them with an opt out if they want to use it.
  5. We Know What You’ve Been Doing
Your email campaign results will give you a brilliant snapshot to tell you how well each of your communications are working. You can feed the successful back into your sales and search engine marketing plans and start to tailor your emails according to what pushes peoples’ buttons.

Try it. It’s cheap, it’s simple and it works. What’s not to like?
