When people are buying from you online, you want to make it as easy for them as possible, so we’ve gathered a few tips together which should make the overall experience a shopping delight for your customers.
Blow your own trumpet
If your company has recently received recognition from the media then let first time visitors know by proudly featuring their recognisable logo’s on your landing pages
Show visitors where they’ve been
Using different coloured text so that users don’t go back to pages they’ve already visited unnecessarily will help them to orient your site better. Also try giving them a history section so they can see where they’ve visited & get back to that all important page to buy from you.
Include your whole site in your search facility
By that we mean, not just the products. Many users will utilise the search facility as their main navigational tool, even when they are searching for non product based items such as your terms & conditions.
Show what they searched for last
Once the user has performed a search make sure you populate the search box with the exact query they entered – you never know they might have made a typo.
Show when it’s nearly sold out
If you’ve ever watched a shopping channel on the TV then you’ll know this one works. Showing when a product is nearly sold out creates a sense of urgency & will increase the chances of the customer acting there & then.
Offer product manuals
By having links through to PDF versions of product manuals next to the product you’re selling you are providing the uncertain user with information that could help you close the sale.
Hide the navigation bars
But only when a customer has started the buying process – you want as little as possible to distract them from the primary purpose at this all important stage.
Do more with your thank you
Don’t just say thank you & leave it at that, this last interaction with your customer is a prime opportunity to get more from them. Include a feedback survey form, information about how they can track their order or even a forward to a friend form.
